So what do we do now? This is a daily chart of the $SPY. If you are newer to day trading you might not know what SPY, QQQ, IWM mean. To explain them they are the ETFs of the S&P500, Nasdaq and Russell 2000. If you are unsure of what an ETF is click here for the investopedia.com definition. Also if you ever hear a term in trading you don’t understand I recommend popping over to investopedia.com to learn more about the subject. They have amazing definitions about indicators, terms and more.
It’s all over the news its the biggest drop in many years of the market. I used Heikin Ashi candles for the chart which will show you more of the trend of the stock or ETF. When you look at the chart you see that as of Dec 29th the SPY was in a breakout mode for 20+days. It followed the trend and kept growing and growing. Like a low float stock that has had a big run the SPY as well as the stocks in the SPY were showing overbought.
Another indicator that can show when a stock is RSI. As you can see on the chart the RSI reached roughy 91 and anything over 70 is considered overbought and usually will cause a correction. On the flip side any RSI below 30 is considered oversold. Fridays close measured 28.4 on the RSI. This doesnt mean that it won’t continue further down, but a likely indication of a bounce or consolidation before a reversal or continuation of the trend. As yo can see on Tuesday the RSI also dropped below 30 and recovered to then continue in the down trend.
In trading I never rely on just one indicator to make a decision but use them to see a bigger picture.
So back to the question what do we do from here? If you are a long biased trader I would definitely say it is time to practice paper trading. One of the best things this week is shorting or buying puts as the market trend has been bearish. It tends to be easier to go short when the overall trend is bearish and long when the market is bullish.
I have many friends asking me are you ok with this massive drop in the markets. My response is yes. I love all the volatility that this market is bringing. Volatility and Volume are great for price action and liquidity to trade and make profits quickly. There are so many opportunities out there long and short. One of the best things I can recommend it you are newer to trading is really study the market price action and what happens with volume. The catalyst this week for many stock to drop was the overall trend and fear of the stock holders.
You will also see if you look at an intraday chart of the spy there are different times at which you can see reversal or trend changes in charts.
I have people ask me if I’m in any stocks long and I did just re enter OLED at 140.66 for a long term swing again. To me the bounce off of 242 for the SPY is the start of a reversal. I will wait for further confirmation. However if the SPY can stay above 250 for this upcoming week in my opinion we are consolidating and gaining investors confidence to once again invest.
I try to always put myself into the mind of other stockholders to think of what they might be thinking. When the stocks are dropping your average Joe trader gets fearful and then sells and it snowballs into more selling and more selling until an extreme when people see the stock on sale. Like AMZN to me. I think AMZN is on a deep discount down at 1311. I think AMZN would be a good long term swing from here as they are a good value company in my opinion. They just posted biggest earnings ever and with the market trend dropped 200 points. They just announced to further vertically integrate their company with a trial of setting up a delivery service in the LA area. This was a big reason for the drop in UPS and FDX on Friday. And they just poached an NBC exec to help them with their own studios. They are looking to compete directly with Netflix in the streaming content arena.
To me this past week of the market has brought forth many potential long term swing opportunities as we see many stocks large cap and small fall to support levels which are great for longs. It minimizes your risk going long or buying the stock at a support level.
I know you must have many questions and I’m always happy to share what I have learned to help you shorten your learning curve. I was in your shoes a short 3 years ago just beginning my studies of the day trading world. I now wake up everyday and feel incredible blessed to have found it as a career. This past year of 2017 has brought some amazing things into my life. First off In February my second daughter was born and will be 11 months tomorrow. It is amazing how time and life flies by so quickly. Starting tomorrow she will be headed to daycare so I can be baby free and give me my full concentration on what I absolutely love…Trading!
I have to thank her as well, because she was a major catalyst in me completing my book #FMJ Trust Transition Trade. Which I was honored to have hit best seller numerous times since it’s release on Amazon Kindle. The reason behind me writing the book was it was the book I was looking for when I first started out on my trading journey. Which has lead to bigger and better ways of sharing like at the Trade Ideas Holly Summit
At the Summit, I was asked for a second year in a row to share my journey and how I use Trade Ideas for my trading. You can watch my portion of the event here. I had overwhelming response from people feeling connected to the struggles I had before I found trading. I know what it is like to be working paycheck to paycheck. I’m so thankful to have found the freedom so say goodbye to bosses.
All of this sharing also landed my blog 13th out of the top 30 trading blogs with foxytrades.com and 22nd out of 50 feedspot.com
It is feedback from people like you finding value in me sharing and trying to help others that honestly keeps me inspired to do more. There are definitely haters out there that I just believe are jealous because they have not put in the time to do it for themselves and only see the end result. It takes a lot of time and devotion just like trading to contribute and continue sharing. I feel very blessed to be where I am in life and look forward to helping others even more.
This upcoming year brings new goals to be met.
First I want to step into the crypto currency trading world. I started studying mid November and saw some big advancements on a couple that I thought would be good to invest in. In my opinion there will be a transfer to crypto currency and it will happen like the adoption of the cd from record and then onto ipods to streaming. To me this is the streaming result of currencies and why wouldn’t it.
I will write another blog post as to my investments next week once they are complete. Second on the list of goals is to help people in person with the Modern Traders Summit in Orlando this June, which is being sponsored by Trade Ideas . I have a great line up of people speaking and really look forward to chatting with individuals and helping many at once. I have people emailing me daily asking me to train them and with the two little ones that dominate my free time it just isn’t a reality at this time.
Some of the speakers besides myself will be Latoya Smith , Anka Metcalf , Stephanie Kammerman, Alice Meade, Billy Wilson and more to come. We will be touching on the most basics to in depth strategies for stocks, options, futures, and crypto currencies. I would love to make this an annual event. My ultimate goal is to help inspire and empower others to feel comfortable trading and create a warm community of traders helping traders. Early bird registration will end Feb 1st and the space is limited. Registration opened this past weekend and seats are already filling up so don’t miss out!
3rd goal for the year is to meet that Million Milestone. Lofty Goal, but I’m never one to aim low in life. You have to work at your goals each day to make them reality and I will make it to 1 million and hopefully before 2019.

As many people begin learning about crypto currencies they are fearful that this is just a bubble that will collapse. Like with any investment if you hold it long term you have to be aware that you could potentially lose it all. Now will the crypto currencies collapse completely?
well I’m sure that the first investors years ago thought I’m not sure if I want to pay $500 for a bitcoin as it isn’t gaining in value very quickly. Well I know now that if I had the ability to buy it at 500 I would have done it. I honestly didn’t start researching crypto currencies until I got an email from Timothy Sykes talking about a free webinar.
That free webinar was probably about 6 weeks ago the beginning of November. I listened and a I started studying the crypto world. How on earth do you get into buying crypto currency? Which one do you invest in? How do you store it?
The more I delved into the world of crypto I realized the more I didn’t know. It reminds me of my first days of learning to day trade. But I kept on studying. Soon I quickly learned that there are many different site that you can buy bitcoins or ethereum or lite coin, but how much are you going to pay? The shot above is from tradingview.com and you can view crypto currency charts for free. When you type in BTCUSD you will see there is more than one chart because there are different exchanges where you can buy them. In fact there is also BTCUSDT (Tether) and I’m not even 100% sure what that is just yet. Bottom line is if you are looking to buy crypto currencies make sure you are paying a fair value for your investment and not getting taken with fees for mining them like a stock brokerage firm takes commissions. One that seems pretty fair to me is coinbase.com .
After you decide where you are going to buy your currency, you need to determine where you are going to store it or them. From what I have seen online there are numerous online “wallets” and some hard wallets. The best way I can explain that would be like software for your computer to run versus the actual hard wallet that is tangible that you would be able to hold such as a USB stick. All of these methods have secure measures to protect your crypto currency or virtual currency. From some stories I have read about actual hard ware wallets and probably online ones too make sure to have a duplicate of the security somewhere safe away from your wallet of choice. There was one story I read online where an individual list $65,000 worth of crypto currency because they couldn’t remember their special password. It is definitely worth it to be ocd about it and keep a secret copy somewhere safe.
Now that you know where you can buy and how to keep it safe what are you going to buy? This comes back to whole bubble idea. It seems like this year the crypto world is just becoming known and hot. I know that Bitcoin was around $6000 when I first started learning and now it is well over $15000. In the past week we saw it go from $11000 to almost $18000. So will this continue or burst….
My thoughts are that is it going to continue to gain in value as more people become knowledgeable about it and how to purchase cryptos. As a fairly smart person it was a bit difficult for me to figure out as there was no clear path to me about how to do it. Back when I was first reading Lite coin was $46 and today it broke $400. Well remember those people that bought Bitcoin at $500 and now it is over $15000. It is proof that as the demand increases so does the price.
Have you known about cryptos for a while and done nothing? I am going to start out small and dollar cost average in maybe $100 a month into different currencies and see how they grow for crypto currencies.
In my 401k I am also investing ins crypto related stocks. There are quite a few that have been hot lately. Some of them popped and then dropped. Here are a list of them.
GBTC COIN RIOT OSTK SSC MARA BITCF XNET GROW BTSC BTCS MGTI SRAX GAHC UBIA ARSC UTSC PRELF BLKCF CRCW COINB SPLY
I did invest in 4 of these in my 401k for long term growth. I was actually nicely suprised to see that my investments in GBTC SPLY BTSC and BTCS gave me an unrealized gain of over $3,000 in today’s trading session alone. The crypto boom is not only affecting the currencies but also related stocks. I would definitely take the time to note the above stocks and see their highs and set alerts for breakouts. You could trade them for daytrading for some and longer term swing trades for others.
I purchase my GBTC back at 981, BTSC avg entry of .10 BTCS avg at .115 and SPLY at 1.45. So if you a Leary of the crypto currencies yourself you can trade the related stocks that are still feeling the effects like an earthquake aftershock.
Don’t worry if you are just learning about crypto currencies you have to start somewhere. I knew nothing a couple of weeks ago and immersed myself and shared with you what I know so far. I’m only looking to expand on it and I will share more as I go and with the currencies that I think might have potential in the long run as well.

As long as we wake up in the morning, we have 24 hours with which to create our day. Every change in our future starts with actions that we take today. When people tell me they want to learn daytrading, I always respond that the best thing to do is start studying.
Changing your profession is not something to be taken lightly or without proper action. If you have already read my book, you know that Sarah and I believe that someone can learn how to trade with the proper effort. Those that succeed in changing their lives put in the effort.
Sharing to help you takes time out of my day, and the reward is hearing how I have inspired others to motivate themselves. It is not easy to put in extra effort to change your own life, but the results are 100% worth it.
Never did I think 4 years ago that I would be working from home with two loving daughters. However once I became a mom, there was a fire within me to change my life to be home for our girls.
What is your motivation? Do you believe you can become a profitable trader? If not, what is holding you back? Is it a fear to take the time to invest in yourself? Is it a time constraint with your current job?
No matter what your answer is there is always a solution to make things happen in life. It will likely take work and potentially cut into your free time. Invest in yourself and take the time. Your future self with thank you for all the hard work.
You will likely be happier when you have the freedom to plan trips to anywhere, have all your bills paid and work from anywhere you choose to work.
Slowly but surely, you will start making profits first a couple dollars, then a couple hundred. Before you know it you will have a couple thousand and above days. Know that everyone has the potential inside of them it depends on how badly you want to make it happen. Not everyone has the same timeframe in trading success and your only competition is yourself.
Did you learn more about trading today than you knew yesterday? Did you improve today? Take the time to put aside at least 30 min today to continue to learn.
I feel that once you know how to technically read a chart it can be applied to stocks, options and potentially futures and cryptocurrencies. I don’t trade futures or cryptocurrencies, but I want to learn more.
I’m in the process of learning how to open a crypto account and how to make that happen. There is so much chatter about it now and I believe that going to a couple global cryptocurrencies is possible. Just think about how the world was revolutionized with credit cards. Or the transition from records to tapes to cds to mp3s.
The electronic revolution is upon us at this time. I will slowly be learing more about this crypto world and once I figure out how to get the accounts open, investing in cryptos.
Everyday brings you a blank canvas to create. If you want to make this leap into trading don’t wait! Start today. I’m a mom of two girls now and it is the best blessing for our family.

Today’s Watchlist for September 14th
When you prep for the day and create a trading plan then yuo are able to have an edge by knowing the price levels at which more momentum should be created and more volume. My watchlists are compiled of stocks which have action happening that morning. I try to share my watchlists to help you all understand how I trade.
I create my list from the stocks that are active in premarket. Those are the stocks that are in motion with price action and typically volume comes in when the market opens. I look at the premarket as well as left on the chart.
I try to technically analyze the charts to see the most current support and resistance as well as the past levels. When the support is broken I expect it to continue downwards as a potential short. When the resistance is broken I would look for a long with upward momentum.
In reviewing the list SHIP never broke the 1.45 resistance but did break 1.20 and faded down to 1.06.
ALV broke resistance in the premarket to open at 125.47 an ran to a high of 127.62 within the first 30 min.
THC broke support at open and faded to the low of day of 16.51.
ALDX was the superstar of the day when it broke 7 quickly ran up to 7.15 and then the second time it continued up all the way to 11. An easy 40%+ gain potential on your investment if you could let it run all day.
HALO ran right at open for a nice 60 cent gain. Then it channeled throughout the day and broke above resistance right at close. Will be on watch for continuation tomorrow as well.
NYRT channeled between the support and resistance and never really broke either direction.
HTZ broke support in the first 30 min and continued to fade throughout the day. A nice Short pretty much from open.
EFX broke the support right at open and faded down from 96.36 down to 89.59 and then a bounce up to 99.
BVXV broke the resistance in the first 30 min and hit the hi of day 7.03
FTRPR faded through support at open but didnt do much with only 200K traded all day.
Day after Day these lists perform and once the levels are broken there are profits to be made. When I’m creating the list I look at the charts and the float and short float to see which ones are a priority. To me I believe that ALDX will have a pull back and a further surge on Friday with the lower float and shorts getting squeezed like today.
Trading to me is being present in the price action and letting the market decide instead of hoping or predicting the outcome. When you react to price action and let you winners run and cut the losers you can quickly grow your account.

I remember the days when I dreamt of not having to go to my desk for work. I didn’t think that it was possible. Then I had the chance to change that for myself and my family. It came with strong support from my hubby as well because he knew I didn’t want to go back to a job where people were sour and depressed to go to work. All that negativity can drain your own energy and slowly eat away at you joy for life.
Now each day I wake up I’m so thankful that I found trading. It wasn’t what I thought I would end up doing in my life, but I absolutely love it! The saying is true that when you are passionate about your job it is no longer a job.
So I ask you again are you a dreamer or a doer? If you only dream about the day you will have enough money to travel, or have enough money to buy your house, or buy that sports car or work from anywhere in the world then you are taking action.
In order to make your dreams reality you absolutely must take some action. It starts with today! It was about 15 months ago I began writing my book with the interviews. Then it was after our second daughter was born I put it into action to edit it. Little did I know that I would make it be an Amazon bestseller. I really would love to be a New York Times best seller which will come with more steps to get there.
Bottom line is stop talking about it and start doing it and living it! Do you want to become a stay at home day trader ? Then take action right now!
Are you confused where to start? Start with my timeline to success in the menu. You must start with studying. Each day of trading starts with a plan. You must do the research and execute from that research to be successful. You must trade with proper risk management.
When you have success and discipline in one area of life it flows into others. If you want to lose weight then do it for yourself. When you have a little achievement be kind to yourself and say good job! I know you can do it!
These past couple of weeks our 3 year old has been really testing us. It is a reminder that there is the negative approach or the nurturing and educating approach with validation. When you are educated in your choices and receive positive feedback it sticks much better than when some just attacks with the negative.
So number one is believe that you can achieve your dream. With time, action and effort I know you can make your dream reality. No matter how big or small keep up your efforts and know that you are one day closer.
